Feels like home ๐Ÿกย

Today has been a busy day, but so has most days since we’ve moved in.

I have not had time to update on how everything went down. We moved in on the 1st of August. We also managed to get most of our things here. We have our own table which we made using a piece of marble and wooden legs.

We also made our own bed! Using 8 EU-pallets and only placing a thick heavy mattress on top. And it’s perfect! We store boardgames and other things in the gaps. (I’ll post pictures of our bed in another post later on)

We have also bought a ton of furniture which I’ll also post about later. A room divider/shelf unit, a sofa and two chairs.

Can you imagine the paintings that we’ve hung up are from my rebellious teenage years?? I can’t believe I’ve kept them.

One of the chairs that we bought from an antique shop here in Aalborg. It resembles the chairs I’ve had growing up so I basically just had to buy it. The mirror is lended to us bu Laust sister Lise. And it fits perfectly with all of our furniture and it’s also the perfect size! ๐Ÿ˜

Our second chair was also bought from the same antique shop in Aalborg. And our drawer/desk/shelf combination was from a second hand shop in Skรธrping.

Last but not least our bed. It’s lower than most beds but that’s because we only have brought 4 of our EU pallets. And there are 4 left at Laust’s parents house. But it will probably still be lower than average but we really don’t mind. It’s different and it suits us. ๐Ÿ™‚

Above our bed we’ve hung our Where’s wally? Puzzle. We’ve completed it a while back and it took us about 9-10 hours. We then glued it on a piece of wood to have it hanging here. ๐Ÿ™‚

I will make a separate blog post later on about everything else. But so far so good!

We are settling in. And it’s happened so fast! We’ve had Laust’s family visiting us today and it was so good seeing them! We’ve both missed them a lot! They also brought a lot of our things and helped us think of solutions for our tiny living arrangement ๐Ÿ˜…

Roaming in Rome ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡นย

I’ve never actually posted about everything I was up to in Rome.. and since I can’t sleep I thought I’d share a few pictures and stories!

About five months ago I got to travel to Rome! It was spontaneous as everything else I do, and it was EXITING!

As I’ve written before, I stayed at Domus Sessoriana, a hotel that used to be a church, but was divided in half, the part I stayed at was still connected to the church. And so the other half of the building was the church. I got to see so many nuns and priests from all over the world ๐ŸŒŽ who came to Rome out of faith. No one realises how big of a deal religion is until they see how it unites people who come from different countries, backgrounds, ethnicities etc.

Anyway, so I got to stay at the top of building, and I had an entire terrace all to myself. Except in the morning. Because that’s where they served breakfast.

And so that was my everyday view, I was a bit far away from where all the action is. But I liked it. At least I could sleep at night! And enjoy the walks to the main centre!

I walked along these streets everyday. And it was never dull. The air was warm but not humid. The people were happy! The ladies looked very stylish and the men were flirty!

It was just as my mother had described it! She warned me about how ‘slick’  Italian men can be and she was right! ๐Ÿ˜‚

On several occasions I got approached by men who thought it was okay to keep walking beside me and keep on talking to me as I didn’t even show an interest and told them to leave me alone. ๐Ÿ˜ก

That one guy actually kept saying how he has multiple girlfriends in different countries and kept saying it’s okay if I went out with him ?? That it’s just the way of life ๐Ÿ˜‚luckily I got away from him when I told him he was a creep! He also kept asking me if he could see/play with my feet ?? And he’d buy me ice cream if I let him! ๐Ÿ˜‚

There were a few other ones standing outside restaurants saying: “For you, everything free!”

The colosseum is breathtaking. From upclose and afar.

Rome has changed me. Every city I’ve been to has. But Rome was something else.

I also got to see Trevi Fountain. The ancient city of Rome had a lot to offer. My legs were sore every night when I got home. I spent my entire days walking. According to my apps I walked about 20-23km a day on average! That’s the most I’ve ever walked!

Spectacular! Sometimes I can’t believe that I have actually been to some of those places! I somehow get so caught up in the “real world” and tend to lose my free spirit. But when I look the pictures I’ve taken I can find myself again.

Ruins from the ancient city. Everything has been preserved. And I can’t wait revisit this place!

I believe that I grow a lot from travelling. That I learn. My mind expands further. I indulge in cultures. I meet new people. I gain experience. And I most definitely enjoy myself.

I remember growing up with a lot of close minded people. The judgemental kind. And I’ve always noticed how I was different. Not trying to be cocky or anything. But they are so put off by everyone and everything. And they believed they were the best. And they looked down on different cultures and values. Their minds were & are so closed off they couldn’t see genuine happiness. They had to put other people down so they could feel superior? But seriously? They are missing out. They’ll always miss out, on life amongst other things. Who they were 6-7 years ago. Is exactly who they are now, and who they’ll always be.

I’m grateful for everything I’ve experienced and for all the amazing people in my life.

I’m very exited for what’s coming next!

I’m already missing this place! I can’t believe how fast time flies! It was only four days ago I was laying on a sunny beach โ˜€๏ธ without a care in the world!
A few days before we started packing, we went sailing with Laust’s mum and Dad! It was so much fun! It was my second time sailing and I got seasick ๐Ÿ˜ท!!

We sailed to Tribunj and enjoyed a few drinks!

I had a bottled cosmo and a bottled sex on the beach! Absolutely refreshing in that type of heat!

I’m incredibly lucky to have such an amazing mother in law! Everyone knows the horror of the in laws BUT GUESS WHAT! I don’t have any of that!! Laust’s mum and dad are the most chill and laid back in laws I’ve ever met! And they’re so kind and caring! And I can always be myself around them! And have a good time!

Me floating next to my mother in law Bente, in the incredible waters of Croatia!

This picture was taken by Laust’s dad Sten, and it really captured how relaxing this entire trip has been โ˜€๏ธ ๐ŸŒŠ

Best FOUR CHEESE pizza in Croatia ๐Ÿ• ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ทย

Laust took me on a dinner date where we ordered a JUMBO pizza! It was almost as big as the table ! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ•(it kinda was more cheese than actual pizza BUT WHO CARES WHEN IT TASTES THIS GOOD)  it is definitely the best pizza on the island, the resturants name is Makina, and it’s in Jezera.

Jezera is a city on the island of Murter. And it’s one of the prettiest places I’ve ever been to! ๐Ÿ˜

This picture is from one of our hikes. During our two weeks trip, we hiked up and down the mountains to discover hidden parts of the island ๐ŸŒด such as the cliffs that lead to clear blue waters.

The water was incredible! It was full of sea urchles. So I had to buy shoes I could swim in.

Sea Urchles are ocean hedgehogs, Laust took one out of the water for me to see it. I’ve never seen a creature like that ever before! They are incredible! They die easily though when people step on them or when they’re out of the water for too long! But we made sure that didn’t happen to this one!

Sea urchles are very delicate and they’re delicious! They are an important delicacy in some parts of the world! You just open one and sprinkle some lemon juice over it and serve it!

Detour ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡น

We somehow ended up staying here longer than planned.. everything has been going well and smooth since we left Denmark. But after a nap at a petrol station in Austria, we had to stop, there was an issue with one of the tires, and we had to wait for help. A GENUINE SOS MOMENT. The feeling of being stranded was overwhelming! And after a couple of hours we got told that nothing can be done until Monday! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
So we now have to spend another day in Austria! We are staying in Trieben at a lovely Austrian hotel with a breakfast buffet ๐Ÿ˜ And this place is incredible! We ate breakfast and had another nap which made us all feel a lot better! Then we decided to go hiking! The view is unreal in this area, the air is so warm and yes it is very humid, but it’s so fresh! The hike was blissful! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

*Laust and I truly enjoying this moment*

* I of course needed Laust to “pose” a bit for the camera*

* This particular view is breathtaking * #๐Ÿ˜

* Laust’s mum and dad looking cute as always*

Road Trip ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ทย

Don’t!ย

From my experience in travelling throughout my life.. being 19 ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ I’ve learnt a thing or two. Having been to about 16 countries so far I know it’s not a lot! But I have made a list for you guys of donts! I should be making one about does but to be honest this seems more fun and it’s more important to know what to avoid! I’ll make sure I make a list of does! As well.

I won’t be going through every country or city, I’ll just bring up important things I’ve picked up along the way!

  • When travelling always make sure you are not over packing! I tend to do that quite a lot and trust me! It’s no good! You won’t be able to shop and you’ll be carrying unnecessary items making your luggage heavier than it should be!
  • I know that you can’t actually predict the weather so you might be worried about what to bring! But there’s this thing called weather apps and websites! But don’t look at just one, make sure you browse through atleast 2-3 to see what the weather is more likely to be!
  • Don’t listen to what anyone suggests is a ‘good‘ restaurant. Go out and explore! Not everyone shares the same taste! And if you always end up going to restaurants or diners or cafes that people suggest for you, you’ll be missing out on a bunch of other things!
  • When in France! Don’t bother actually trying to speak to anyone in any other language then French! In Paris it’s more likely that they speak English, but forget about other parts such as Marseille!
  • Don’t take out all of your money in cash! Most European countries use cards! And it’s a waste to take out all of it!  But if you’re in areas that aren’t city centre type you’ll need some cash! Because some places avoid cards for tax purposes.
  • Don’t purchase souvenirs at airports or malls. They’re always more expensive and you can always get it cheaper from random souvenir shops located all over town. I often find the ones run by Asians the cheapest!
  • Don’t expect people to be kind! I’ve had run ins with people in different areas that are sick and tired of tourists! And they actually say it! Although tourism is what is helping their country, that’s all they live off!
  • Don’t be rude! People are sometimes unpleasant but to make sure your journey doesn’t turn sour, try to keep up the good spirits and enjoy yourself!
  • Don’t waste time on people who stop you to talk when you’re walking! Even if it’s only for a signature or if they want 1โ‚ฌ.  Most of them are frauds! And only want to see how much cash you have on to later jump you!
  • Don’t neglect your bag! Even if you’re at a restaurant! Make sure all your things are visible to you!
  • Don’t allow people to trick you into cutting queues for attractions etc.

Hope this is helpful! I know it’s quite short! And there is so much more!! I’ll make sure I post more about travel later on๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
